Employee Stock Purchase Plan

The Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) is a way to increase your stake in The Hartford's future. If you choose to participate, you'll purchase company common stock at a 5 percent discount off the market price. And you don't pay broker commissions or transaction fees on purchases.

Note: The discounted purchase price will be based on the market price per share on the last trading day of the offering period.

Eligibility

You are eligible to participate in the ESPP if you:

  • are an active U.S. employee of The Hartford or one of its participating subsidiaries and
  • have six or more months of service.

Contribution Limits

You can contribute from 1 percent to 10 percent of your eligible gross pay through payroll deduction, up to an annual limit of $25,000 in stock value.

Enrollment

If you're eligible, you can enroll in the first offering period of the ESPP after you've completed six months of service. Approximately one month before the next offering period, you'll receive your welcome kit.

If you decide to participate, you can enroll online or by calling The Hartford HR Service Center at 1-877-HR-AT-WORK.

If your enrollment is processed by the deadline, your payroll deductions will begin with the first pay period of the next offering period.

Enrollment and Offering Periods

*To ensure appropriate deductions occur in the first payroll in an Offering Period, each Enrollment Period cut-off date will be on the last Monday prior to quarter-end.

Changing Contribution Amount

If you want to change the amount you contribute, effective with the next offering period, you'll need to complete your contribution rate change by the specified deadline.

You can make changes online at NetBenefits or by calling The Hartford HR Service Center at 1-877-HR-AT-WORK.

Selling Stock

You can sell your shares at any time through The Hartford HR Service Center at 1-877-HR-AT-WORK. You'll be asked to enter your global ID and your personal identification number (PIN). Once your personal data is authenticated, follow the prompts that walk you step-by-step through the sale. Or sell your shares online at NetBenefits.

Stopping Your Contributions

To withdraw from the Plan, simply stop your contributions online at NetBenefits or by calling The Hartford HR Service Center at 1-877-HR-AT-WORK. Your contributions will stop the month after you submit your election to terminate participation. If you stop your ESPP deductions during the first two months of each offering period, you will receive a refund of your contributions. If you stop your ESPP contributions during the third month of the offering period, you will make a purchase for that period and your deductions will be suspended for the following offering period.
